JCC's Dahlin dashes to third-place finish in state Class A 200 meters

Jackson County Central's Ben Dahlin earned a third-place finish Wednesdsay in the boys 200-meter run at the Minnesota Class A track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
Dahlin, a senior, finished the race in a time of 22.16 seconds. The winner, Evonson Plamann of St. Agnes, had a time of 21.96.
Also Wednesday, in the boys 4x200 meter relay, JCC's combination of Isaac Hesebeck, Dahlin, Clay Malchow and Quinn Landherr placed seventh with a time of 1 minute, 31.43 seconds. Osakis set a new Class A record in winning the event in 1:28.42.
In the boys 110-meter high hurdles, Malchow competed for the Huskies and took
eighth with a clocking of 15.39 seconds. The event's winner was Christopher Hilton of St. Charles, who finished in 14.53.
For Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, Matthew Stapek placed 11th in the boys 1600-meter run with a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 34.45 seconds. Redwood Valley's William Ahrens was first in 4:19.58. The Coyotes' Laiken Farris was 12th in the girls 1600 meters with a time of 5:21.02. Audrey Brownell of Staples-Motley was victorious in 5:02.28.
For the Trojans on Wednesday, junior Tetlouch Gach competed in the boys 110-meter hurdles and placed 14th. His time was 15.44 seconds. Another WHS athlete, senior Welbaka Morke, wound up placing 14th in the boys triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 8.25 inches.
Four other Trojans are slated to compete Thursday. Senior Fanuel Wolday will be in the 1600-meter run, which is scheduled to begin at 11:08 a.m. Two WHS student-athletes, sophomore Caleb Meyer and junior Thet Tay, will compete in the high jump, which will start at 9 a.m. Grace Bates will also look to make her mark for the Trojans when she leaps in the triple jump, which is also slated for a 9 a.m. start.
