Fundraiser for local auto racer Koppen is scheduled for July 25

A fundraiser is being planned for a Rushmore man who was recently injured in a head-on-crash in northwest Iowa.

Todd Koppen, 32, of Rushmore was injured in a June 18 collision near Alvord, Iowa. Koppen, who competes in auto races at both the Murray County Speedway in Slayton and the Worthington Speedway, broke both his legs in the crash. He was expected to possibly be in a wheelchair through the rest of July and be out of work for between four to six months.

A fundraising event to assist Koppen is being coordinated by Melissa and Dane Christensen. A benefit and silent auction have been scheduled for July 25 at On the Rocks Bar in Ellsworth. The event will begin at 2 p.m. and will continue until closing.

People who are interested in including items in the auction are encouraged to contact Dane at (605) 929-8499 or Melissa at (507) 360-3211. Melissa’s Venmo is @Melissa-Christensen-1.
