Four hurt, Worthington woman cited after northwest Iowa crash

A Thursday crash that occurred when a motorist drove around barricades on Iowa 9 wound up with minor injuries to four people.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office said a Buick Encore operated by Sara Hernandez, 64, of Worthington was westbound when she went off the paved roadway through a gap in the concrete construction and then hit another section of concrete. The vehicle then rolled, coming to rest on its driver’s side.

Hernandez and three passengers had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Lake Park Fire Department. All sustained minor injuries but declined transport to the hospital.

Hernandez was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to obey a traffic control device for driving around road closed signs.
