Four filing thus far for city council, school board spots

As of Friday morning, two of four Worthington City Council positions up for election this November have had no one file for candidacy.

Chris Kielblock, currently a Ward 1 city council member, has filed for reelection to his seat. Amy Ernst, a Ward 2 city council, has also filed for reelection. No one has yet to file for the council member at large post now held by Chad Cummings, and no one yet has yet to file for the special election for the Ward 2 city council seat that’s being held by Dennis Weber through the end of the year. Weber was appointed to take over for Alaina Kolpin when she resigned this spring after moving out of city limits.

On the Worthington Independent School District 518 Board of Education, Matt Schieder and Steve Schnieder have filed for re-election. Two other board members, Tom Prins and Joel Lorenz, have yet to file, and there are no other candidates at this time.

The filing deadline for the city and county offices is Aug. 13.
