Federated annual meeting slated for Aug, 3

Federated Rural Electric will host its 88th annual meeting Thursday, Aug. 3. After three years of a drive-in annual meeting, this year the cooperative hosts an in-person meeting and meal.

The meeting will take place in the Martin County West High School gym in Sherburn. Park at the high school, in the grassy area south of the football field, at the elementary school across the highway or along the street. Federated will have two golf carts to help transfer people from these different parking areas to the school.

During meeting registration from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., members will receive election ballots if they have not already voted by mail. Federated members can enjoy a pork chop on a stick by the Martin County Pork Producers, chips, cookie and bottle of water. While waiting for the meeting to begin, attendees can play Bingo from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. as well as visit booths for information on Heartland Security and Federated's money-saving programs. They can also check out the Rivian electric pickup, plus Federated Broadband options for local internet and streaming TV. The attendance gift is a pair of scissors, sponsored by the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Federated members will learn about the cooperative's highlights for the year. President David Hansen and General Manager Scott Reimer will give reports on the year in review and a preview of 2024. Members will also elect one director for the Board and two members to serve on the Nominating Committee; terms for all positions start Dec. 1.

Following the business meeting $1,000 worth of electric bill credits will be awarded to those who voted by mail or in person with $300 as the grand prize, along with bill credits awarded for:

· $250 bill credit for one member
