Among multiple contested election races Tuesday night around the region, it was Lynelle Thiner winning a three-person competition for an at-large Sibley City Council seat. Thiner received an unofficial total of 226 votes while Dave Myers had 174 and Alex Ties had 70. There were also three write-ins.
Also in Osceola County, the community of Harris saw Amy Muftah wind up with 40 votes unofficially to finish ahead of James Morgan (who had 31 votes) and Tammie Coenen (who had 26). There was one write-in.
In Sheldon, there were multiple people running for three available seats on the school board. Unofficial vote totals had Adam Sauer at 898 votes; Jessica Brink, 792; and Amy Sietstra, 648. Other candidates included Schuyler Vreeman, 591; Heather Craig, 590 and Jacob Bos, 328. There were also 16 write-ins.
In the Lyon County community of Little Rock, voters had the opportunity to elect three individuals to city council seats. Pending results have Amy Kruse with 119 votes; Marcus Minter with 91; Rod Borer with 86; Austin Kannegieter with 86; and Joe Schilling with 51.
In the Central Lyon school district, three individuals were elected in a four-person contest, Amy Hartter had 412 votes, Scott Stuerman 406 and Jordan Menning 393, while Shelly Berg trailed at 164. There were nine write-ins.
Finally, in southwest Minnesota, four individuals out of six candidates were elected to the Mountain Lake Public Schools board. Tom Fast received the most votes with 364, Carolyn Karschnik got 302, Ramont Harder Schrock got 263 and Chad Pedersen got 253. Trailing were Julie Brugman received 252 votes and John D. Regier had 249. There were 34 write-in votes cast.
