Dragons win, Trojans lose in high school football playoffs

Rilee Hiedebrink scored two touchdowns, each on five-yard runs, and Aiden Tweet ran for a TD and passed for another Tuesday night as Adrian-Ellsworth topped Murray County Central 28-7 in a Section 3A quarterfinal football game in Adrian.


The Dragons are now 7-2 after defeating the Rebels for the second time in two meetings this season. Adrian-Ellsworth will now face Sleepy Eye United, the section’s No. 1 seed, in a game scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday in Sleepy Eye. The Dragons are the No. 4 seed; MCC was the No. 5.


In Section 3AAA football, second-seeded Waseca earned a 29-0 halftime advantage over Worthington and went on to triumph over the seventh-seeded Trojans 43-0. WHS ends its season with a record of 2-7.
