Dragons power past Coyotes in girls basketball, 76-55

Two regional high school girls basketball wrapped up their regular seasons Monday night in Okabena as the Adrian-Ellsworth Dragons rode a barrage of 3-pointers in the latter part of the second half to run away with a 76-55 triumph over the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes.

A see-saw first half included multiple lead changes, with the Dragons leading by as many as six and the Coyotes by as much as five before HL-O/F emerged with a 26-25 edge at the break. A-E, though, started the second half with a 12-0 burst for a 37-26 advantage. The Coyotes were able to get as close as three, but the Dragons' Keyona Klingenberg drilled 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions to give her team breathing room.

Shandra Cuperus topped A-E offensively with 24 points, Klingenberg finished with 17 and Kamryn Lehnhoff had 11 as the Dragons ended the regular season at 17-9. Ashton Reierson and Lauryn Hendel each had 20 points for the Coyotes, who end at 11-14. Next up is Super Saturday this weekend in the Worthington High School gymnasium,
