The annual program helps Nobles County children in grades K-4 have backpacks and school supplies on the first day of school. The distribution is slated for Aug. 10 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St., Worthington. School begins Aug. 29.
People have the power to change the lives of children in the region by helping to provide the backpacks, colors, pencils, paper, glue and other supplies children need for their specific grade level. Last year, 600 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed.
Donations may be sent to WPC Backpacks, 230 Clary St., Worthington 56187. People may also contact Norma Cook at 372-2324 or Sandy Beckering at 376-5203 with questions.
Volunteers are also being sought with giving out the backpacks and supplies. Help with setup is being sought for 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 9 and for distribution from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
Children must be present to receive their backpacks on the day of distribution.
