District 518 superintendent issues statement about 'possible threat'

Worthington Independent School District 518 Superintendent Joel Heitkamp issued a statement Tuesday night about a "possible threat" earlier in the day.

"This afternoon, concerns were brought to Worthington High School Administration about a possible threat," Heitkamp wrote. "Due to the passage of information within the learning community, we partnered with the Worthington Police Department, who then investigated the information given. Through that investigation our WPD determined that the threat was not credible and linked to an ongoing investigation in Albert Lea."

Added Heikamp: "We appreciate that our students feel comfortable to share concerns with administration. Our students and staff safety continues to be a top priority."
