Dickinson County gets first Blue Star Marker

Writer: Radio WorksRadio Works

Johnny's Pub in Lake Park is the first location in Dickinson County, Iowa to dedicate the Blue Star Marker.

The dedication of the Blue Star Marker was at Johnny's Pub Biker Bash at noon Sunday, prior to "kickstands up" at the A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Ride.

The Blue Star Marker program was started in the 1950s by the National Garden Clubs to honor veterans of every branch of the military. There are a number of Blue Star markers all across the state of Iowa. There are five counties in Iowa that are currently Blue Star counties, which means every town in that county has a Blue Star Marker.

The Blue Star Marker in Lake Park initiates Dickinson County to become a Blue Star County.
