Crash in Stearns County claims life of Windom woman

A Windom woman died and four other people injured in a head-on crash Saturday morning in Stearns County.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2010 Chevy Express Cargo Van operated by Manuel R. Guardado, 28. was westbound on Minnesota 23 and a 2013 Toyota Sienna Minivan operated by Lana Renae Tibodeau. 50, of Windom, was eastbound on Minnesota 23 when they collided head-on near the intersection with Stearns County 123. The crash took place at approximately 8:20 Saturday morning,


Tibodeau died from injuries sustained in the crash. Her passenger, a 15-year-old boy, received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.


Guardado, and his two passengers, Jose Rafael Guardado, 25, and Juan a Zuniga Perez, 26, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.


Assistance was provided by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Paynesville Police and Fire Departments, Richmond Police and Fire Departments, Chain of Lakes Fire Department, and Centra Care Ambulance.
