A collision Monday afternoon in Spirit Lake resulted in three people taken to the hospital.
According to the Spirit Lake Police Department, a 2023 GMC pickup loaded with a boat and operated by Carter Wallerich, 22, of Plainview was northbound on U.S. 71, and a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox operated by a 17-year-old female of Jackson was southbound. The Equinox was attempting to turn onto 34th Street when it pulled into the path of the GMC. The crash took place shortly before 1 p.m. Monday.
The trailer and boat came to rest against a stoplight pole. The Equinox driver and two passengers in that vehicle -- Jessica Remme and Dawn Stoltenberg, both of Jackson -- were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with non-incapacitating injuries. Wallerich wasn’t injured.
The Equinox driver was cited for failure to yield.
