Closed bridge has now reopened in Jackson

The city of Jackson announced Monday afternoon that the State Street Bridge has been reopened to the public.

City emergency crews asked that people not slow down, or stop to look or take pictures, along the bridge, as it prevents crews from protecting the city. It was also noted that the Ashley Street bridge and the U.S. 71 bridge is unsafe for vehicle or pedestrian traffic and will remain closed for the indefinite future.

The city of Jackson also reported that water quality has not been in jeopardy at any point. Should the city need to shut down its water supply, it will have access to Minnesota rural water for all Jackson residents.

While there has been a small decrease in water levels, it was added, an anticipated increase is coming.
