City weather conditions remain drier than average through August

High and low temperatures for the month of August were both slightly above average and precipitation for the month was more than an inch less than normal, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Worthington had an average high of 80.2 degrees this past month, which is .8 degrees warmer than the typical August high of 79.4. A high of 90 degrees was recorded on the final day of the month; it was also 88 on the 26th.

The average low in Worthington in August was 58.2 degrees, or .4 degrees warmer than average. The lowest temperature reading was 48 degrees, which came on Aug. 23rd. The next coolest was 49 on the 5th.

Worthington recorded 2.73 inches of precipitation during August, with 1.14 inches of it coming on the 4th. There was also .72 inches measured on the 29th. The normal amount of rain in August is 3.85 inches.

For the first eight months of the year, Worthington has an average high of 61.3 degrees and average low of 38.4. By comparison, average highs and lows for the first eight months of the year are 56.6 and 36.3 degrees, respectively. Worthington has received 16.92 inches of precipitation in January through August, compared to the normal amount of 19.24 inches.
