Child's car seat found near lake, but no one located in search

A search of Cottonwood Lake resulted in no one being located after an empty child’s car seat was found in the lake Tuesday evening.

According to the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday following the discovery of a child’s car seat near a sand bar on the north side of the lake.

A water search was conducted but no one was located. First responders cleared the scene at 9:32 p.m.

The sheriff’s office noted it has not received any reports of missing persons or incidents believed to have occurred on Cottonwood Lake.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Windom Police Department and Windom Fire Department.
