Chase following theft in Windom results in multiple arrests

A late-night theft investigation in Windom turned into a multi-county police pursuit Tuesday night.

According to a press release issued Thursday afternoon from Windom Chief of Police Scott Peterson, just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Windom police were called to the Circle K Convenience Store for a reported shoplifting incident. Officers learned three females had allegedly left the store without paying for more than $84 worth of merchandise and took off in a gray Ford Explorer heading east.

Area departments were alerted, and a short time later Mountain Lake Police located the vehicle and attempted a stop. The driver refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit that continued through Watonwan County and into Blue Earth County. The chase ended in North Mankato, where the suspects were taken into custody.

The theft investigation remains ongoing. The Mountain Lake Police Department, Watonwan County and Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Offices and the Minnesota State Patrol also assisted.
