Brooklynn Tyrrell marks retirement from Buffalo Ridge Young Marines
The Buffalo Ridge Young Marines recently recognized the retirement of Young Marine Master Sergeant Brooklynn Tyrrell of Fulda following more than six years of service to the Young Marines program.
According to Unit Commander Dan Harrington, Tyrrell officially retired on Aug. 12, concluding a Young Marines career that began on Jan. 4, 2020. She joined during the first month of the Buffalo Ridge Young Marines’ existence and became one of the unit’s original Young Marines.
The daughter of Heath Mitchell and Mandy West, Brooklynn graduated from Fulda High School in May of this year. She will attend Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she plans to pursue a degree in aviation. Her long-term goal is to become a professional pilot, with the aspiration of someday flying for Delta Air Lines.
Tyrrell completed Junior, Senior and Advanced Leadership Schools during her Young Marines career. For the past two years, she also served as cadre for both the Division 3 Leadership Schools, helping train and mentor the next generation of Young Marine leaders.
She also dedicated significant time to community service, completing more than 400 hours of community service during her Young Marines career. Her accomplishments included participation in numerous training events, encampments, community service projects and activities representing Buffalo Ridge Young Marines.
Tyrrell was meritoriously promoted to Young Marine Master Sergeant by Young Marines Headquarters in recognition of her leadership, performance and dedication to the program.
