Brewster reminds its residents of rules regarding their pets

The City of Brewster is reminding residents that it's unlawful for the owner of any animal to permit the animal to run at large.

All dogs are required to be on a leash when walking on public streets, sidewalks and in public parks, stated a City of Brewster social media post Monday. Residents are asked to make sure that when their dog is outside, it's staying on their property, and they're out with the dog. Otherwise, residents should have a way to tie them up or place them in a kennel.

The City of Brewster notes that it has had several complaints about dogs not being tied up and running after people walking by or doing their business on other people's property. It is also recommended to make sure your dog has a name tag with a phone number on it, along with current rabies and distemper shots.
