Bluejays sweep baseball twinbill over Western Tech

The Minnesota West baseball team swept a doubleheader Monday against Western Technical College, winning 11-8 and 8-5 in Sioux Falls.
Ales Zhao had another strong offensive game for the Blue Jays, connecting for two singles and a double, scoring three times and driving in four runs. Zhao also stoie three bases in the game, including home.
Layke Miller also doubled and drove in two for Minnesota West, which rallied from an 8-6 deficit by scoring five times in the bottom of the sixth.
In the second game, the Blue Jays — now 12-11 on the season — led 5-0 after two innings. Western Tech eventually closed the gap to 6-5,but Minnesota West added on a pair of key insurance runs in the sixth.
Bryker Smith had a pair of hits and drove in four runs for Minnesota West, which plays two more games at Western Tech on Tuesday.

The Worthington Trojans played their first high school softball game of the season on Monday, losing at Redwood Valley 26-5 in a three-inning contest.
The Trojans led 4-0 after the top of the first inning, but it was all Cardinals after that. Madi Polz had two hits for WHS in the game. Emma Hietbrink, Tayler Nickel, Leah Nelson, Macie Mahlberg and Anna Gordon had a hit each.
The Trojans are scheduled to host Marshall on Tuesday.
