Benefit for Teri Spartz scheduled for Feb. 22 in Wilmont

A benefit for Teri Spartz is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Wilmont VFW.

On Aug. 6, 2025, Spartz was admitted to a hospital in Sioux Falls following the sudden onset of severe illness accompanied by significant loss of mobility in her lower extremities. On Aug. 12, she was formally diagnosed with West Nile Virus resulting from a mosquito bite. Due to the severity of the infection and the resulting neurological and physical impairments, prolonged inpatient hospitalization was medically necessary, and she remained hospitalized until Sept. 18.

Spartz's recovery remains in progress, and continued post-discharge care and therapy are essential to support functional improvement and long-term recovery. Funds from the benefit will assist with ongoing therapy services, travel for appointments and additional related expenses.

A pork sandwich meal with free-will donation will begin at 11 a.m. on the 22nd. There will be a silent auction and live auction starting at noon. For auction donation, contact Shelly Spartz at (507) 360-5393 or Lexi Newman at (507) 329-4594.
