Area wrestlers begin quests for state individual championships

Area wrestlers began competing Thursday at the state individual tournament.
For the Worthington Trojans, 107-pounder Dominic Larson was the lone state AA qualifier. He won his Thursday match 7-2 and will next take on Grayson Schroeder of Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Friday.
Multiple Jackson County Central student-athletes wrestled Thursday at the state Class A individual tournament. All wrestlers will next return to the mat on Friday.
Matthias Liepold won an 8-4 decision at 127 pounds and next faces Nathaniel Veske of Central Public Schools.
Isaac Rodriguez won a 9-5 decision at 139 and next meets Jackson Peasley of Pelican Rapids.
Kyler Thier won by technical fall at 145 and next takes on Waylon Thieke of LeSueur-Henderson.
Dallas Gossen won via medical forfeit at 152 and next meets Henry Dohnalik of La Crescent-Hokah
Payton Sorbel was defeated by fall at 107 and will face Benjamin Schmid of Mille Lacs in wrestlebacks.
Carson Kolander lost by major decision at 189 and will face Trenton Huber of WEM-JWP in wrestlebacks.

Jackson Jenniges won an 8-3 decision at 160 pounds and will take on Blake Sonnenberg of Frazee.
Jesse Bullerman won by a 7-5 decision at 189 and next meets Jake Leners of Royalton-Upsala.
Travis Weiss lost by major decision at 133 and will next go up against Alex Ortiz of Triton in wrestlebacks.
Charger Erlandson lost a 5-3 decision at 152 and will meet Gunner Hennessy of Border-West in wrestlebacks.
Caleb Wolf lost by major decision at 172 and will take on Mason Johnson of LeSueur-Henderson in wrestlebacks.
Garrett Penning lost a 7-2 decision at 285 and will face Grady Roberts of New York Mills in wrestlebacks.
For Fulda/Murray County Central:
Colby Kesterloot had a bye at 285 pounds and will take on Jack Carlson of Goodhue.
Kaston Clarke lost by 9-2 decision at 121 and will meet Domenek Williams of LeSeuer-Henderson in wrestlebacks.
Quintin Lewis lost by 9-7 decision at 160 and next faces Creed Koll of United North Central in wrestlebacks.
