Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton were each 3-0 winners in Section 3A South Semifinal volleyball matches Tuesday night in Worthington.
R-T-R defeated Southwest Minnesota Christian by scores of 25-14, 25-12, 27-25. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton topped Adrian-Ellsworth by scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-18. R-T-R and T-M-B will meet in the Section 3A South final at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Southwest Minnesota State University.
In a Section 3AA South Semifinal match Tuesday, it was host Pipestone Area over Redwood Valley 3-0. Scores were 25-12, 25-20, 25-23. The Arrows will now take on Windom, a 3-0 winner over visiting Montevideo by scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-14. That Section 3AA South Final will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at Worthington High School.
In Class AAA, host Marshall takes on St. Peter in the Section 2 championship match on Thursday.
In state Class AA boys soccer Tuesday, Richfield -- which edged Worthington 2-1 in the quarterfinals last week -- took on unbeaten Hill-Murray, which had allowed just two goals all season long. Richfield built a 3-1 halftime lead, but Hill-Murray got a tying goal with 29 seconds left in regulation and then won in overtime, 4-3, at U.S. Bank Stadium.
