Multiple southwest Minnesota amateur baseball playoff series will get underway Wednesday night following the conclusion of the regular season this past weekend.
The Worthington Cubs will enter the postseason following a 10-0, seven-inning loss to visiting Milroy on Sunday. The Cubs, who finished the regular season with a 5-9 record in league play and 7-10 mark overall, are seeded seventh in Region 10C for the play-in round and will now take on 10th-seeded Pipestone in a best-of-three series that begins Wednesday night. Worthington will host the A's in a game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.; game two is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday in Pipestone. A third matchup, if necessary, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Worthington. No admission fee will be taken for this round of playoffs.
In other play-in round action slated for Wednesday, eighth-seeded Fox Lake will play host to No. 9 seed Lakefield at 7:30 p.m. The times for later contests in that best-of-three series have yet to be determined. Additionally, sixth-seeded Jackson will entertain No. 11 Heron Lake at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Game two in the Bulls-Lakers series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in Heron Lake. A third game, if needed, would be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Jackson.
