A-E to face regional rival HL-O/F in Tuesday football playoff game

The Adrian-Ellsworth Dragons have received the No. 3 seed in the Section 3 9-Man Football Tournament and will play host to No. 6 Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Dragons enter the game with a record of 6-2, while the Coyotes are 2-6. You can catch the action on 104.3 La Voz.


Unbeaten Hills-Beaver Creek, ranked No. 1 in the state, has the top seed. The Patriots have a first-round bye, as does second-seeded Edgerton. The Dutchmen will entertain the Dragons-Coyotes winner at 3 p.m. Saturday.


In Section 3A football, second-seeded Murray County Central has a first-round bye and will host either Russell-Tyler-Ruthton or B.O.L.D. at 7 p.m. Saturday.


Jackson County Central, another unbeaten and top-ranked team in the state, has the No. 1 seed in the Section 3AA Tournament. The Huskies will play host at 3 p.m. Saturday to the winner of a 7 p.m. Tuesday game between fourth-seeded Windom Area and fifth-seeded Pipestone Area.


In Section 3AAA football, Worthington earned the No. 7 seed and will play at Albert Lea at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner of the matchup between the 6-2 Tigers and winless Trojans will take on the victor of a 7p.m. Tuesday game between third-seeded Luverne and sixth-seeded Belle Plaine. That contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the highest seed.

The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team picked up victories in both of their weekend matches, as they recorded 3-0 sweeps of St. Cloud Tech on Friday and Century College on Saturday. Game scores Friday were 25-19, 25-17, 25-17; they were 25-8, 25-20, 25-14 on Saturday.


Sadie Krahling led the Lady Jays, ranked sixth in NJCAA Division 3, in attacking with 22 kills, and Kylee Larsen was next with 16.  Kadyn Paulson collected 34 total digs and was followed by Aleah Wagner with 24. Krahling was 17-for-17 serving with two aces in the St. Cloud Tech match alone; Kate Slettum had four aces in the Century match and a combined 43 set assists on the day.


Minnesota West, now 32-4 overall this fall, will close out its regular season Wednesday against Minnesota State-Fergus Falls. The match begins at 6:30 p.m.; catch the action on 104.3 La Voz.
