While Worthington Independent School District 518 has four people running for three open spots on its board of education, one nearby district has four times as many candidates.
In the Luverne school district, Michael DeBates, Josh Gangestad, Matt Goembel, Eric A. Hartman, Jacob Hartz, Brett Hood, Heather Johnson, Austin Kurtz, Amber Lais, Amber Nath, Zach Nolz, Randy Sasker, Jason M. Schear, Maggie Siebenahler and Scott Wesssels are all seeking open seats on the board of education. Of those individuals, four will be chosen by voters in November to be on the board.
Three people are also vying for another board spot in a special election for a school board member in the Luverne district. Voters will be choosing between Ryan DeBates, Maggie Vanderburg and Matthew VanGrootheest.
