WORTHINGTON – As a very confusing 2020 ends, it’s time to look forward to some festival fun in 2021 in Worthington. Winterfest will look a bit different this year, but there is still opportunity to get outside and play.
The Winterfest Medallion Hunt will go on as usual, with clues starting Monday, January 11. You can find those clues daily on the myradioworks.net website and Facebook page, as well as the Worthington Winterfest Facebook page.
The medallion will be hidden in a public place, and will not require climbing or digging to find. Whoever finds the medallion is asked to bring it to the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce office or call them at 507-372-2919. The clever person (or people) who unravel the clues will earn $100 in Chamber Checks.
A rock hunt will also go in the week of Jan 11-16. Rocks painted with snowflakes will be hidden outside in public places. Rocks painted with mittens will be hidden inside Chamber member businesses. Anyone who finds one of the Winterfest painted rocks should take a selfie with it and post the photo to the Worthington Winterfest Facebook page using the hashtag #worthingtonwinterfest2021. You will then be entered into a drawing for one of three gift baskets donated by Chamber businesses.
In a new event this year, there will be a snowman/snow sculpture contest, which will also take place during the week of Jan 11-16. Get out and build something fun in the snow, either by yourself or as a crew. Once your entry is done, take a picture and post it to the Worthington Winterfest Facebook page, again using the #worthingtonwinterfest2021. The Winterfest Committee will judge the sculptures on Jan. 17, and winners will earn some great prizes.
