The woman who died as a result of Wednesday's crash on Interstate 90 west of Worthington was part of a group of storm chasers following severe weather.
Martha Lilian Llanos Rodriguez, 30, of Mexico City, was the one person who died when the 2021 Chevrolet hatchback she was riding in along with three other people was struck by a semi on I-90 near Worthington, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report. The Chevrolet was stopped in the road to avoid downed power lines when it was hit by the semi. Llanos Rodriguez was in the area chasing storms, according to her Twitter account, and had been in Nebraska and Iowa before stopping in Minnesota. Wednesday was her first day chasing storms in the Midwest. Media reports added that outside of storm chasing, Llanos Rodriguez wrote weather forecast articles for the Mexico City area via Meteored.
