The Worthington High School boys hockey team snapped a 1-1 tie with three second-period goals and rolled to a 6-1 home win over Windom on Monday night.
Alec Langerud scored the game’s first goal 5:05 into the first period for WHS on an assist from Logan Powers, but the Eagles’ Wyatt Haugen got the equalizer a little more than seven minutes later on a pass from Ethan Purrington. The Trojans, though, exploded for three straight goals in the second period. Blake Luinenburg got things rolling just 20 seconds in on an unassisted goal, and Konner Honius made it 3-1 less than a minute later following a pass from Blake Ahrenstorff. Langerud then scored again, this time unassisted, at 8:55 of the second period.
WHS got a third-period goal from Ian Bumgardner at 3:06, assisted by Ahrenstoff, and Langerud completed a hat trick at 9:35 following a feed from Luinenburg.
The Trojans, now 11-12 on the season, won despite being outshot 31-24.
