WHS, Adrian students qualify for state speech competition

Thirteen students in the Worthington High School speech team competed recently in the Section 2AA tournament, and two will go on to participate at the state-level event today.

Oziel Briones earned second place in the Humor category, and Emma Singler earned third place in Creative Expression. Both will compete at state.

Also earning high marks at sections were Jenna Hoffman, with a fourth-place finish in Original Oratory; Bennett Oberloh, who took fourth in Informative, and Elizabeth Martinez Castro, who finished sixth in Extemporaneous Reading.

Meanwhile, Adrian High School will have four students taking part in the state speech competition. At sections: Gabe Thier placed third in discussion; Aaron Rojas was second in humorous; Jesus Royas took third in humorous; and Jocelyn Horn placed first in creative expression.
