Victim identified in Lake Park homicide

LAKE PARK, Iowa – The victim of a death investigation from December 22 has been identified as 25-year-old Angel Bastman of Lake Park.

Authorities received a 911 call at 11:30 a.m. December 22 and responded to 104 Maple Avenue, where they found the deceased female.

During the investigation authorities learned Bastman had previously rented a vehicle. On Saturday, Sioux City police spotted the missing car and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled in the vehicle, leading officers in a pursuit. The driver, who was later identified as 23-year-old Justice Bernston, had been involved in a traffic crash and was charged with felony-level eluding officers and driving while barred.

The investigation into Bastman’s death is ongoing.
