Tornado drills set as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week

Severe Weather Awareness Week is being observed through Friday.

Severe Weather Awareness Week is an ideal time for families, communities, schools and local businesses to review and talk about their emergency plans and how they can prepare for the upcoming severe weather season.

A statewide tornado drill will take place on Thursday, and Worthington will be participating. A first drill will be at 1:45 p.m. and is intended for institutions and businesses. The evening drill is at 6:45 p.m. and is intended for second-shift workers and families.

Outdoor tornado warnings are normally given by sirens. People indoors should listen to radios, TV or weather radio warnings to find out the latest information. People are encouraged to sign up for wireless emergency alerts on their mobile devices.
