Snow fence installation set to begin Monday

The installation of structural snow fence at five locations along Minnesota 60 between Brewster and Heron Lake is expected to begin on Monday, weather permitting, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The structural composite rail snow fence will be installed at the five locations to help increase safety during the snow and ice season and decrease the use of salt on MnDOT’s roadways.

Crews will be working in the right of way and traffic will not be impacted; however, drivers should watch for workers and slow-moving equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

MnDOT’s snow fence program is a partnership with landowners and farm operators to improve roadway safety and mobility for the traveling public. The project is expected to be completed in early May. The project cost is $129,960.00, and Sun-Up Construction is the contractor.
