The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is warning area residents of a new scam.
Rock County law enforcement personnel have received numerous calls regarding a Sgt. Adam Scott from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office informing the caller they failed to appear for court. The caller ID comes back as Rock County Sheriff's Office, (507) 283-5000.
One caller advised a callback number left on her voicemail of (507) 225-6413. When Sheriff Evan Verbrugge called this number, an actual person did answer, so Verbrugge asked if Mr. Scott was available to come into his office. For some reason, though, “Mr. Scott” hung up.
People should not give out any personal information to anyone that calls them. If you have questions about a call, hang up and call the actual Rock County Sheriff's Office.
