Ringmaster Larry Lang died Monday in Worthington

WORTHINGTON – Famed onion ring creator and restaurateur Larry Lang died Monday, November 9 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington at the age of 66.

Subject of the recent documentary, “The Ringmaster,” Lang was a Worthington native and operated Michael’s Restaurant, which was well renowned for their onion rings.

Lang was the son of steakhouse founder Michael Lang and longtime keeper of the family’s secret onion ring batter recipe, which helped make the Worthington establishment a paragon of southwest Minnesota dining throughout the 1990s. The onion rings were once described as the best in the U.S. by a Washington Post food critic.

Arrangements are pending with Dingmann Funeral Home of Worthington.
