A Reading home sustained extensive damage from a fire Wednesday evening.
The Wilmont Fire Department and Worthington Ambulance were dispatched at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday for the fire at 17352 Lais Ave. Upon firefighters’ arrival, flames could be seen observed shooting 10 or more feet from the roof. The Lismore Fire Department was quickly dispatched for mutual aid to provide more water.
The owner of the home suffered burns to one of his hands. It appeared that the fire originated in the kitchen or dining room. Approximately a dozen Wilmont firefighters responded to the blaze and were on the scene for more than two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
