Pipestone County registers fifth COVID-19 death

MINNESOTA – The death of a Pipestone County resident in their 90s due to COVID-19 was reported Wednesday by the Minnesota Department of Health, making this the fifth death in that County. Eight more deaths were reported Wednesday, along with 578 newly diagnosed coronavirus cases.

Locally, two cases were reported in Cottonwood County, one in Jackson, Murray and Nobles Counties, and seven in Pipestone County.

The state had now seen 1,518 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, and 43,742 cases. Of those, 38,179 patients no longer require isolation. As of Wednesday, there were 254 people hospitalized due to the virus, with 106 of them in ICU.
