WORTHINGTON – During a Nobles County Commissioner meeting Tuesday, Administrator Tom Johnson announced his retirement, effective April 30.
The commissioners had just come out of a closed session for Johnson’s annual evaluation when he let them know of his pending retirement.
“We knew it was coming, we just didn’t know a date,” said Commissioner Justin Ahlers on Wednesday morning.
Johnson, a St. James native, has served as the administrator of the county since 2013.
The board will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Friday to discuss the recruitment process to replace Johnson. They have several options, including advertising in-house through their own human resources department. They could also open the position to the public via HR or using a recruitment firm, which would require a formal bid process.
