An individual was taken into custody Thursday morning following a shooting in Milford, Iowa.
The shooting took place at approximately 8:20 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Grapetree Medical Staffing in Milford. Initial reports said a woman sustained three gunshot wounds, and some spent nine-millimeter casings were located.
Court documents say Christian William Goyne-Yarns, 25, has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting the woman, who identified Goyne-Yarns as the alleged shooter when she called 911. Goyne-Yarns was being held in the Dickinson County Jail.
Grapetree Medical Staffing personnel, Okoboji schools and some area businesses were placed in lockdown shortly after the incident took place. Spirit Lake schools, which already had a two-hour late start in place because of the extreme cold, called off Thursday classes entirely.
Lockdowns were lifted shortly after the apprehension. The victim, whose name had not been released as of late Thursday, was treated at a nearby hospital and transferred by air to a Sioux Falls hospital.
