Last minute filings turn city elections into a race

WORTHINGTON – The filing period for city offices and school boards closed Tuesday.

For the Worthington City Council, incumbent Chad Cummings will run unopposed for the At Large position. In Ward 1 there are two newcomers – Christopher Keilblock and Aida Simon. That seat is currently held by Alan Oberloh, who has opted not to run. In Ward 2, incumbent Amy Ernst will face off against newcomer David Janssen.

For the school board in ISD 518, incumbents Joel Lorenz, Linden Olson, Stephen Schnieder and Brad Shaffer have all filed for re-election. An added challenger is Tom Prins.

In Slayton, incumbent Mayor Miron Carney will go up against Bradley Pagel, and for the special election seat, Dean Ackerman will face Judy Onken LaBoda.
