Compassionate Friends will offer a time for families to come together during its annual candle-lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the Cottonwood County Historical Society, 812 Fourth Ave., Windom.
The event will take place amid the historical society's Festival of Trees in the Remick Gallery. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The candle lighting is especially for families in southwest Minnesota to honor the memories of children who have died at any time, at any age, from any cause. During the event, families are invited to make a personal ornament in memory of their child -- or bring an ornament of their choosing for the children's tree.
The program begins at 6:45 p.m., with the candle-lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. Each attendee will be invited to light a candle in memory of their special child.
Refreshments will be served, and there will be time for families to share their child's story.
