LUVERNE – Another incident of vandalism has been reported in Luverne at the Love the Light display at the city park.
Earlier this month, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a privately-owned barn had been burned and light displays had been vandalized. A $1,000 reward was offered by the sheriff’s office for information leading to an arrest in the case.
On Tuesday morning, it was discovered that vandals had struck once more. A tractor owned by Jaycox that was in the park and decorated for the holidays had a window smashed out. The Chamber asked that the businesses, organizations and families participating in the Love the Lights display go check their portion - and said they would understand if people wanted to remove their valuables.
Rock County Sheriff Even Verbrugge said the vandalism was disappointing. He called this year’s display unique, including lights, blowups and music, and said it was fun to drive through and see.
“The community is up in arms over this,” Verbrugge said. “They are very frustrated.”
