An Adrian student was one of 18 high school students from across Minnesota to participate in the Speaking Proudly Oratory Competition at the State Capitol in St. Paul.
Jocelyn Horn spoke during the June 17 event on the topic “Free to Be You and Me.” A non-partisan, non-profit project of Metro Republican Women, the biennial event featured 18 girls from around the state of Minnesota giving eight-minute speeches on the topic, “Securing the Blessings of Liberty in 21st Century America.”
Prizes were awarded to the top three competitors. Francesca Rose Chastek, a Chesterton Academy student from St. Paul, received a $2,500 prize and trophy as the first-place winner. Prizes of $2,000 and $1,500, respectively, were awarded for second and third place.
