Home Stretch Workshop
Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership invited those interested in purchasing a home to attend Homebuyer Education classes via Zoom for Home Stretch Workshops. The classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. August 11 and 13, September 8 and 10, October 13and 15, and December 8 and 10. Attendance is required both evenings. Class sizes are limited to 25, so sign up early at swmhp.org or call 507-836-1604.

Pioneer Village of Worthington
Take a trip back in time at Pioneer Village in Worthington. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $6 for adults, $2 for students, and on Sundays everyone gets in for just $1.
Volunteers needed at Manna Food Pantry
Manna Food Pantry is in desperate need of a volunteer to help hand out meat during the harvest truck that delivers to the pantry approximately at 11 am on the first and third Thursdays of each month. If you are able to help, please contact Linda Sanchez at 507-329-1951.
Worthington City Council Honorary Member
The Worthington City Council is seeking people interested in the inner-workings of city government for their Honorary Member program. The Honorary Member serves for three months, attending regular council meetings and participating in discussions. They do not make motions or vote. They attend as able various advisory board and commission meetings, and attend a staff briefing and tour the facilities. They also receive all correspondence directed to City Council, including staff reports and League of Minnesota City publications. There is no monetary compensation, and applicants must be 21 years of age and a resident voter of the city for at least 30 days prior to appointment. Nixle is a community information service via the Worthington Police Department dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you. You can receive alerts for closed roads, weather alerts, safety alerts, missing persons, general notifications, special events, canvassing witnesses for leads and other evidence. August 7-9 – Fair Food Favorites at Murray County Fairgrounds
Missing your favorite fair foods? Head to the Murray County Fairgrounds August 7-9 for pork burgers, pork chop on a stick, pulled pork sandwiches, malts and kettle corn. Food is provided by the Murray County Pork Producers and Murray County Dairy Association. Outdoor seating is available and social distancing will be observed. Hours are Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (open during the races), Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
August 8 – Author Joseph C. Fitzharris presentation
The Wheels Across the Prairie presents Joseph C. Fitzharris, author of “The Hardest Lot of Men” at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 8 at the Wheels Across the Prairie Museum in Tracy. The book is about the Minnesota 3rd Infantry and their involvement with the Dakota Upraising. A meal starts at 5 p.m. that includes porkburgers, chips and ice cream sundaes. August 8 – Shetek Area Lakes Association Meeting
The second annual Shetek Area Lakes Association will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8 at the Shetek Ministries Lutheran Bible Camp on Keeley Island. The meeting will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Bring a lawn chair and mask. Social distancing will be observed. August 13 – Free Backpack and School Supplies
Distribution of free backpacks and school supplies will take place for children in grades K – 4 from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, August 13 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary Street. There will be a drive-thru via the semi-circle on the north side of the church. This is sponsored by several local merchants, churches, civic groups and individuals. Parents and students are asked to remain in their vehicles. The student must be in the vehicle to receive a backpack and supplies.
October 5 - Worthington Citywide Clean-Up
In the city of Worthington, a city-wide spring clean-up scheduled for earlier in the year has been rescheduled to begin October 5. The tags for pickup can be purchases September 28 through October 2. Items can go out on the curb September 30. Questions can be directed to the city at 507-372-8600.
