Winterfest Medallion Hunt begins today!
WORTHINGTON - Winterfest is here! The 2020 Medallion Hunt starts today, and clues can be found daily on the Radio Works websites and heard on your favorite Radio Works station. As always, the medallion is hidden on public property, and you should not need to dig or climb to get to find it.
If you are the lucky hunter who finds the medallion, turn it in to the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce downtown, or let them know by calling 507-372-2919. The super sleuth who solves the clues and finds the medallion will get $100 in Chamber Checks.
Here's your first clue:
It's Winterfest time, with plenty of fun,

Follow the clues and then hunt it down!
While you're out and about in Worthington, keep your eyes peeled for Snowman Hunt rocks! There are 150 rocks painted with snowman faces that can be found indoors and out. According to Winterfest Committee member Robyn Moser, the rocks can be found in plain sight outdoors - and also in your favorite grocery store aisle, at a local gas pump or at various Worthington businesses.
If you find a Snowman Hunt rock, bring it to the Winterfest 2020 Beach Party on Saturday at the Worthington Event Center. The lucky 150 people get to register for a chance to win a gift basket full of items from local businesses. You can keep the rock, or hide it back out in the community! Moser said you can just stop in and register, and winner need be present to win.
Don't forget the Friday fun at the Worthington Event Center! The Winterfest Opening Ceremonies start at 5 p.m., as does the Red Hot Chili Cook-off. People's Choice voting goes until 6:45 p.m. , and Tommy Lee Binford will entertain from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
There's plenty going on all day long on Saturday, including open skate and the SW MN Fishing Club Ice Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to noon at Sunset Park and a full morning of events at the YMCA. At the Event Center, there's the YPN Puzzle Tournament, which starts at 9 a.m.
There will be concession at Sunset Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 1 p.m. Saturday, stop by and watch a crazy bunch of people jump into the lake during the Deep Freeze Dip. They're raising money this year for the Jami Cummings Safety Around Water program.
The doors open for the Beach Party at 3:30 p.m., which is when check-in for both the bean bag and dart tournament begins. Games begin at 4:30 p.m. During the Beach Party, there will be food, drinks, merriment and music, with the band Too Drunk To Fish playing from 7 to 11 p.m.
