Parade Marshal and Honorary Turkey named for King Turkey Day
WORTHINGTON - During the unofficial kick-off event of King Turkey Day, the Thursday night mixer, Danny Huls was named the Honorary Turkey for 2016. Huls, a former member of the King Turkey Day Board of Directors and race team, has put in countless hours dedicated to the success of King Turkey Day, according to current Vice-President Jaime Salinas. Huls has served on various committees and also offered up the services and resources of his business, Dan's Electric.
Beth Rickers Namanny was named Parade Marshal, which is only fitting after all of her years of organizing the King Turkey Day Grand Parade, chairing the committee. President Wade Roesner said Nammany was on the race team, served on the Board of Directors and for many years was also the voice was also the voice of King Turkey Day by writing numerous stories during her long tenure at the Daily Globe.
During Thursday's mixer, a framed print of the buttons by Mark Kness was also auctioned off by Jess Donkersloot and sold to Greg DeGroot for the sum of $400, along with a button that is numbered to match the print.
