New fire chief approved by Worthington City Council
WORTHINGTON - Worthington has a new fire chief.
During the Worthington City Council meeting Monday night, the council appointed Jason Larsen as the Chief of the Worthington Fire Department, taking into account the recommendation of fire department personnel.
Larsen has served on the department for 10 years. He said he is excited to be part of the department and continue to move things forward.
The council also approved the closure of Smith Avenue and a portion of Clary Street on Halloween night from 5 to 8 p.m.
Every year on Halloween, large numbers of children and adults participate in trick or treating on Smith Avenue. For the safety of the public, the Worthington Police Department recommends the closure. The same closure took place in 2018. The Worthington Police Department will have officers and a stand in the area to provide safety items to the children.
