Harris man wins "Power to Do More" contest

HARRIS, Iowa - A farmer from the Harris, Iowa area is one of three winners in “The Power To Do More” contest sponsored by Dow AgroSciences.

Chad Hibma and the other two finalists will each receive $10,000 to donate to their favorite causes. Hibma will donate his share to the Harris-Lake Park FFA chapter. He'll also receive two tickets to a football game at Sports Authority Field in Denver this fall.

Curt Robbins from Fairfield, Illinois and Lee Stammen from Fort Recovery, Ohio were the other two winners. Robbins, a corn and soybean producer, will be handing his $10,000 prize to the Fairfield Community High School to help with renovations to the football field- where he spends off the farm as a coach. And Stammen’s winnings will go towards the Fort Recovery FFA chapter.

Dow AgroSciences also donated $1,000 to each community organization nominated by the remaining seven finalists in the contest. That includes Matt Widboom of Worthington who will be donating his share of the money to the Worthington YMCA.

Between April 24th and May 21st friends, family and neighbors of the 10 contest finalists cast votes for their favorite finalist and community. Each finalist had previously entered the contest by submitting a unique photo and story about their farm operations.
