COVID-19 update for June 19
MINNESOTA – After staying relatively stable for days, the number of COVID-19 cases in southwest Minnesota edged up slightly, according to the latest report from the Minnesota Department of Health.
Cottonwood County added three new cases Friday, as did Murray County. Nobles County cases went up by seven.
There were 17 newly reported deaths across the state, with all of those deaths being patients who were 60 years old or more. Thirteen of them were residents of a long-term care facility. This brings the total number of deaths due to coronavirus across the state to 1,361. Just under 1,100 of those were from long-term care centers.
There were 362 new cases reported across the state.
As of Friday, there were 339 people hospitalized due to the virus. Of those, 168 were in intensive care. Of the more than 32,000 confirmed COVID cases in Minnesota since the pandemic began, 27,709 of those patients no longer require isolation.
