Dayton's job proposal includes $16 million for Lewis & Clark, $108 million for SW MN

MINNESOTA – Gov. Mark Dayton’s 2016 Minnesota Jobs Proposal, unveiled Friday, includes $16 million in funding to complete the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System in southwest Minnesota.

Dayton’s plan for $1.4 billion in Minnesota public works projects will open the coming legislative debate on this year's bonding bill. In a statement, Dayton said his plan would create an estimated 39,000 jobs and strengthen the state's economy while meeting its critical needs.

WORTHINGTON - Worthington High School agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor Matt Tripp was presented Thursday with a $2,600 scholarship by AgStar Financial Services and DuPont Pioneer to attend a Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) certification course June 19-29 in Mankato.

After completing the course, Tripp will be certified in the CASE curriculum, which uses activity-, project- and problem-based learning to prepare students for higher education and careers in agriculture, he said.

Kat Perkins to Perform at Regatta

Worthington Windsurfing Regatta & Music Festival Board announced Tuesday that Kat Perkins will be headlining the festival on Friday, June 10 at 8:30 p.m.

Perkins was a Top 5 contestant on NBC’s The Voice, coached by Adam Levine of Maroon 5, has opened for Bon Jovi and released her first single, “Fearless,” in August 2014.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – A Worthington woman is facing charges of identity theft and forgery, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office. The report states 34-year-old Brenda Contarero-Olivera of Worthington was arrested Monday after deputies learned she illegally used another person’s identity to get a job at a business in Hospers.

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa - A Spirit Lake woman has been named President of Bank Midwest, according to Chairman and CEO Steve Goodenow. He announced Monday Mary Kay Bates has been serving in the capacity since January 1. Bates was previously Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Bank Midwest.
